Ravindra Jadeja reclaims no.1 allrounder’s spot in latest ICC Test player rankings

Babar Azam was also a big gainer in ICC Test batting rankings thanks to his 196 in Karachi Test.

Ravindra Jadeja during the Mohali Test | BCCIIndia’s Ravindra Jadeja has again become the no.1 ranked all-rounder in the latest update of the ICC Test player rankings, which were released on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

The 33-year-old Indian all-rounder Jadeja was in sensational form in the recently concluded two-match Test series against the Dimuth Karunaratne-led Sri Lanka team. He scored 175* in the first Test in Mohali and picked 5/41 & 4/46 in the encounter as he was named the Player of the Match as well.

In the second match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which was a D/N Test, Jadeja made 4 and 22 and picked one wicket only. However, it was enough for India to win the Test and the series 2-0.

33-year-old Jadeja leapfrogged the star West Indies fast-bowling all-rounder Jason Holder to become the new no.1 ranked all-rounder.

Holder is currently embroiled in the three-Test series between England and West Indies. In the first game, he scored 45 & 37* and bagged a total of 3 wickets. In the second game, he was able to score only 12 runs and take one wicket.

Jadeja now has 385 rating points and Jason Holder has slipped to the second spot after his ordinary run and he has 357 rating points in his bag.

In other movements, Pakistani captain Babar Azam moved to the 5th spot in Test batting rankings thanks to his brilliant 196 in the second Test in Karachi. Mohammad Rizwan who also scored an unbeaten century in the same match, moved up six spots, to be joint No.11 alongside David Warner.

Usman Khawaja, who scored 160 and 44* in Karachi, moves up eleven spots to No.13. 

In the ODI charts, South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, who scored a blistering 41-ball 62 moved up one place to No.3 in the batting charts. Kagiso Rabada, who picked up his second ODI five-wicket haul, moves up five places to No.8 in the bowling rankings, breaking into the top 10.
