Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir recalled his school days. He revealed that he was suspended for 2 months in 12th standard for getting into a fight.

Gambhir was one of the finest batters that represented Team India in all three formats. The main highlight of his career was his two spectacular innings in the final of T20 World Cup 2007 and ODI World Cup 2011, where he scored 75 and 97 respectively.

Gambhir was also known for his aggressive nature. The southpaw many times had indulged in various battles on the field. He never backed away from giving it back to the opposition players. He scored over 10,000 runs across formats for India and also led Kolkata Knight Riders to title victories in IPL 2012 and 2014.

Speaking to Jatin Sapru on his show Over & Out, Gautam Gambhir said that he had an aggressive nature since childhood and he was indulged in a lot of fights during his school days. He recalled a fight with a rival cricketing team and revealed that he got suspended for two months.

“I've got into a lot of fights in school... In 12th standard, when every kid wants to go to school, attend the last days, and I was playing Ranji Trophy as well - I got suspended for two months.

“I straightaway sat in the board exams after that. Even my prefect badge was taken away. We had gone to Mayo College and were playing this ITSC tournament and we got into a fight with DPS," Gautam Gambhir said.

Gambhir further recalled how he and his teammates ruined a special portrait in a "shoe fight", making its owner cry.

"We also did another thing which I now realize was very wrong. As kids you are full of fervour. We were staying in Oman House. The man on whose name that House was built, had brought a huge portrait with a massive frame from Oman. At night, we had a shoe fight with spikes and all and ruined that picture. The headmaster of that House starting crying," he said.

Gautam Gambhir will be next seen in his new avatar during the IPL 2022. The former Indian skipper will mentor the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants.
