The first Test between the West Indies and England in Antigua ended in a tie, with Nkrumah Bonner and Jason Holder spearheading the West Indies' fight on the last day.
West Indies reached 147/4 in 70.1 overs before both sides shook hands (for a draw). Bonner and Holder both stayed at the crease for almost 35 overs in Antigua, ensuring a draw for the home team.
Following the conclusion of the Test, though, all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite slammed England for being disrespectful in their refusal to draw the match much earlier when there were no chances of them winning and taking too long to shake hands.
"If I were Kraigg Brathwaite (no relation) or any of the other senior players in that dressing room I would have found it a bit disrespectful in the last hour. Would England have done that if it was an Ashes Test or against India, New Zealand or Pakistan? I think the answer is no, so why have they done it against us? The West Indies are a better team than we give them credit for,” Brathwaite had said on BT Sport.

Former West Indies captain Jason Holder has shared his opinion on the issue and agreed with Brathwaite, saying that he was astonished when Root and his teammates didn't shake hands immediately after the last hour of the last day's play began.
“I definitely know what Carlos said and I would be wrong if I probably didn’t agree with him,” said Holder to Sportsmail.
"I thought they went on way too long. I thought from the last hour I told Bonner if we batted for five overs, they would probably call it, but I was really surprised they went on that long. Joe was well within his rights to stretch it that long, and in a sense, I didn’t mind because it gave the English team more overs in their legs. They had to toil a lot longer,” added Holder.
