IPL 2022: "Thank you Partner," Du Plessis gives heartfelt reply to Gaikwad after being named as RCB captain

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis gave heartfelt reply to his CSK’s opening partner Rurturaj Gaikwad after being named as the skipper of the franchise for IPL 2022.  

RCB acquiring Du Plessis at the IPL 2022 auction brought an end to his long-term association with CSK. The Proteas batter, who was acquired for INR 7 crores, was then on Saturday (March 12) made captain of the Bengaluru based franchise. 

Du Plessis joined CSK in 2011 and since then he played a vital role in the team’s success. He was a part of the franchise for almost a decade and was a vital cog in their batting line-up for the last few years.

The South African batter also formed a formidable opening partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2021. The opening pair contributed in every match for the CSK and provided a solid start to their team, including a half-century stand in the final. 

While Gaikwad grabbed the orange cap with 635 runs, Du Plessis was not far behind as he amassed 633 runs in the 16 matches he played. 

As RCB named Du Plessis their skipper he expressed his gratitude towards the franchise through an instagram post. His CSK’s batting partner Gaikwad congratulated him. The right-hander commented “Good luck Partner”, replying to which the former South African skipper said, “Thank you, Partner.”

Faf du Plessis thanked Ruturaj Gaikwad | ScreengrabRCB are placed with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Gujarat Titans (GT) in group B. They will kick start their campaign against the Mayank Agarwal-led side on 27th March in Mumbai.
