West Indies all-rounder and former T20I captain Carlos Brathwaite slammed the England side for taking their time to shake hands for a draw despite West Indies having two set batters in the middle and six wickets in hand, going into the last hour of play.
The first Test match between the two sides in Antigua ended in a draw as Nkrumah Bonner and
The home side was in a spot of bother at tea having lost three wickets in quick succession, chasing a target of 286 runs. However, Bonner and Holder played out more than 35 overs to save the Test match.
However, Brathwaite was not happy with England captain Joe Root taking much time to call it a draw even when the Windies had set batsmen batting in the middle and they still had 6 wickets in the bag.
He questioned their tactic and said that he wonders whether England would have done the same in an Ashes Test against Australia or in a match against India if they had been in the same position.
Speaking on BT Sport, Brathwaite said, "If I were a senior player in the West Indies dressing room, I would have found it a bit disrespectful that in the last hour, with two set batsmen playing as they were and the pitch offering nothing, England still felt they could get six wickets, going all the way down to five balls left.”

"Would England have done that if it were an Ashes Test? Would they have done that against India, New Zealand, Pakistan? I think the answer is no, so why have they done it against us?" he added.
Brathwaite then said that this could serve as a big resolve factor for the hosts to come back stronger in the second Test.
"If West Indies need any sort of steely determination added, I think that passage of play should have given them that. They should be thinking 'we have two Tests now to prove we are better than England think we are'," he added.
