Australian batter Usman Khawaja on Monday (7th March) hilariously expressed his disappointment at Pakistani fans for cheering when he was dismissed in the ongoing first Test in Rawalpindi.

Khawaja has been in the red-hot form since his return to the Australian Test side. The southpaw displayed a sensational performance in the Ashes 2021-22 and then carried his form in the ongoing first Test against Pakistan.

Opening the batting, Khawaja along with David Warner (68) led Australia’s fightback after the hosts put up a massive 476 runs before declaring the first innings.

The southpaw scored 97 runs and fell short of the well-deserved ton. He tried to reverse sweep Nauman Ali but ended up giving a catch to Imam-ul-Haq at the forward short-leg.

Speaking in a video posted on PCB’s Instagram account, Pakistan-born Usman Khawaja expressed his gratitude towards fans and cheekily took a jibe at them. He said that crowd cheering when the DRS showed he was out was the only thing he didn’t like.

"Thank you, Pindi, Thank you, Islamabad. The crowd has been really good. Everyone has supported us here. You cheered when the DRS showed I was out (smiles)..that's the only thing I didn't like," the left-hander said.

The video also featured Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne, saying "Marrnusss, Marrnuss. It concluded with players of both the teams having a conversation with each other.

Coming to the match, apart from Usman Khawaja and David Warner, the likes of Marnus Labuschange (90), Steve Smith (78) and Cameron Green (48) also chipped in with the bat to help visitors end Day 4 on high. At stumps, the Pat Cummins-led side is trailing hosts by 27 runs and are 449/7.
