Shane Warne’s manager James Erskine, on Sunday (6th March), reportedly said that his children are in ‘complete shock' and are trying to come to terms with the tragedy of his passing away.
In what was terrible news for cricket lovers across the world, Australian spin wizard Shane Warne passed away on Friday (4th March) at the age of 52 due to a suspected heart attack in Thailand. The former cricketer was found unresponsive in his villa and couldn't be revived.
Shane Warne was arguably one of the best spinners the game has ever witnessed. The leg-spinner represented Australia for 15 years and his name always hogged over the headlines for his on and off-field antics.
He took over 1000 wickets across formats and is also the second-highest wicket-taker in the history of Test cricket with 708 scalps in 145 matches. Warne also bagged 293 ODI wickets in 194 matches and was part of Australia’s World Cup-winning team in 1999.
Speaking to Weekend Today, as reported by Sydney Morning Herald, James Erskine remarked that Shane Warne’s children are in ‘complete shock’ and are expecting the Australian legend to walk in the door.
'we just expect him to walk in the door, this is like a bad dream'. I think the three children are in complete shock. They can't believe what's happened. I think that's what happens when you have a sudden death," James Erskine said.
Erskine talked about how difficult it is for Warne’s children to overcome the tragedy. He said that the kids are having a ‘harder time’ than anybody else.
"One minute, the kids are talking to him every day and the next minute, they can't talk to him. Then they start thinking about, well, 'he's not going to be there for my 21st [birthday], he's not going to take me down the aisle', all of those sorts of things go through your head. They are having a much harder time than anybody, really," he said.
