Indian wicketkeeper-batter Wrddhiman Saha on Saturday (19th February) revealed receiving a threat from an unnamed journalist for an interview. He shared the screenshots of the chat with the journalist on his Twitter account.

Wriddhiman Saha’s name has been hogging over the headlines since the last week. The wicketkeeper-batter pulled himself out of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022.

It was learned that he was categorically told by the team management that he will not be picked for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. However, later, some reports also suggested that the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) played a role in the controversy.

Saha’s name didn’t appear in the squad announced by BCCI on Saturday (19th February) for the upcoming home Test series against Sri Lanka. Chief selector Chetan Sharma didn’t justify the wicket-keeper’s omission from the squad. But said that it is an internal matter of the selection committee and the team management.

After Wriddhiman Saha was not named in the squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka, an unnamed journalist threatened him when he failed to respond for an interview. The wicketkeeper-batter took to the official Twitter account and revealed the screenshots of the chat. He said that despite all of his contributions to Indian cricket, he’s facing such things.

“After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone,” Wriddhiman Saha Tweeted.

The two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka will kick-start from March 4. The second Test is slated to begin from March 12. Rishabh Pant and KS Bharat are the two wicket-keepers in the squad. BCCI also named Rohit Sharma as the full-time Test captain.
