Batting great Sachin Tendulkar talked about the pressure of expectations on his son Arjun Tendulkar. And also revealed that said that he hides somewhere whenever he goes to watch his son play, or he avoids going at all.

Being the son of Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun has often been at the receiving end of social meida scrutiny and has many times invited murmurs of nepotism around him. The all-rounder has previously played for India U19 and last year also became part of Mumbai’s senior squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.

The 22-year-old has also been part of IPL, representing Mumbai Indians in IPL 2021, and was reacquired by the five-time champions for INR 30 lakhs in the recently concluded IPL 2022 auction.

Although he’s yet to make his debut in the IPL but being part of the Rohit Sharma-led side would have certainly given him some high-quality exposure.

In a conversation with Graham Bensinger, Sachin Tendulkar said that he doesn’t go to watch his son Arjun Tendulkar play as he wants him to have the freedom and fall in love with the game.

“Fathers and mothers, when they watch their children play, they get stressed and that’s why I don’t go and watch Arjun because I want him to have that freedom to fall in love with cricket – to stay focused on what he wants to do, I don’t go and watch him play," Sachin Tendulkar said.

Sachin Tendulkar further said that Arjun Tendulkar should stay focused on the game. He while admitting that he didn’t like anyone watching him said that he wants to give his son the same freedom.

He remarked that even if he goes and watches Arjun play, he hides somewhere and nobody knows he’s there.

"He has to stay focused on the game. Like I didn’t like anyone watching me. Even if I go and watch his games, I’m hiding somewhere. He doesn’t know that I’m there, and nobody knows, neither does his coach, or anyone,” he said.
