Glenn Maxwell, the Australian cricketer, is set to marry later this year. On March 27, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder will marry Vini Raman, his Indian-origin fiancée. The big day's wedding card was printed in Tamil and went viral on social media.
Maxwell and Vini had got engaged to each other just before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. They've been dating for quite some time and have been photographed together since 2017. Vini graduated from Mentone Girls Secondary College with a degree in medical science and now works as a pharmacist in Melbourne, according to News18.
The wedding card shared by actress Kasturi Shankar wowed fans. She wrote, "Glenn Maxwell marrying Vini Raman. Going by the cute traditional Tamil muhurta patrikai, we’d bet there may likely be a TamBram ceremony... Will there be a white gown wedding too? Congratulations Glenn and Vini!"
Maxwell was one of RCB's three retained players ahead of the IPL 2022 season and will be paid Rs. 11 crores. The other two retentions by RCB were Virat Kohli and Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj.
RCB spent a lot of money at the IPL 2022 auction to get Harshal Patel, the purple cap winner in the IPL 2021, and Wanindu Hasaranga, a Sri Lankan all-rounder. Both got INR 10.75 crore bids.
Josh Hazlewood, Maxwell's Australian teammate, will also join the franchise, as will veteran South African batter Faf du Plessis.
Maxwell joined RCB in IPL 2021 after being released by Punjab Kings and was one of their star performers as they advanced to the playoffs. In 15 games he scored 513 runs at a strike rate of 144.10.
Maxwell is currently playing in a five-match T20I series for Australia against Sri Lanka.
