Pakistan’s young speed gun Mohammad Hasnain has expressed what he is going through for the first time after he was banned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) following his bowling action being found illegal by Cricket Australia (CA) during the recent Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22.

His bowling action was found illegal by the CA’s independent expert, and later, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also banned Hasnain from playing in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 after a test confirmed the same.

Notably, the young pacer’s elbow extension for his good-length delivery, full-length delivery, slow bouncer, and bouncer exceeded the 15-degree limit, resulting in his bowling action being found illegal and he was banned from bowling in both international cricket and domestic franchise leagues.

In a video shared by his PSL franchise Quetta Gladiators on Twitter, Hasnain said that he never thought that his arm was exceeding the 15-degree limit. However, the pacer admitted that he is "sad" over the ban, but insisted that he is strongly determined to make a strong comeback.

Hasnain said in the video: “I didn't expect this. Before the Big Bash League, I've played a decent amount of cricket. I never thought that my arm goes up beyond 15 degrees. I had never expected such a thing to happen. When I first got to know about the action, I had no idea about this, I had no idea how to react. I started watching videos of my bowling to analyze whether there was any problem with the action.”

He added, “I didn't feel any such thing. I returned to Pakistan leaving BBL midway through the season as the PSL was about to start and gave my bowling action test. I was playing PSL games when I got to know that I've been banned by the ICC. It's a difficult phase for me but I am hoping to clear this and bounce back… and represent my team again.”

Recalling the tough moment, Hasnain said: “I was hoping to give my best against Islamabad United... I was tying my shoelaces before the warm-up before Saifi Bhai (Sarfaraz Ahmed) was told Hasnain can't play this match. It was a difficult moment for me.”

He signed off by saying, “I'm leaving the PSL and my team. It's a tough period for me but I'll be back after clearing my weaknesses. I've got time to improve and you will see a new Hasnain soon.”
