South Africa's Keegan Petersen to miss New Zealand tour after testing positive for COVID-19

South Africa batter Keegan Petersen will miss the upcoming tour of the New Zealand trip after testing positive for the COVID-19 virus. Zubayr Hamza has been named his replacement on the tour. 

With 276 runs at an average of 46.00 in the three-match Test series, Petersen was the leading run-scorer. With scores of 72, 82, and 62, he was the only player to score more than three half-centuries. He was also named the Player of the Series for his performance. 

A statement from Cricket South Africa read that Petersen was asymptomatic and was feeling well and the medical staff is constantly keeping an eye on him.

 "The number three batter is well and asymptomatic. Cricket South Africa's (CSA) medical team will keep in close contact with him to ensure his physical and mental well-being," CSA said in an official statement.

According to team management new South Africa A team coach Malibongwe Maketa and physiotherapist Brent Martin will join the Proteas team on the tour, replacing Rivash Gobind and Craig Govender, both of whom are on leave.
