Indian U19 skipper Yash Dhull said that former batter VVS Laxman’s experience is helping his side perform well in the ongoing ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2022 in the Caribbean. Team India qualified for the semi-final after they defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets in the quarterfinal.

Bowling first, after winning the toss, left-arm pacer Ravi Kumar gave his side a dream start as he removed Bangladesh’s top-order in quick succession to leave them tumbling at 37/5. A clinical effort by other bowlers helped India U19 bundle out Bangladesh U19 for just 111 runs.

Chasing the target, the Yash Dhull-led side lost opener Harnoor Singh for a three-ball duck. However, valiant knocks by Angkrish Raghuvanshi (40), Shaik Rasheed (26), and Dhull (20*) helped them chase the target inside 31 overs and book a place in the semi-final.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, India U-19 skipper Yash Dhull said that their team combination is good and when someone is down they all get together to lift him up. He further lauded VVS Laxman for sharing his experience with his side and helping them.

"Our team combination has been very good and the boys are gelling well. Whenever someone is down, we all get together to bring them up. It is a lifetime experience here. The team is improving day by day. Laxman sir giving his experience gives us a lot of help in the middle. We will look at the semis on the day of the match depending on how the wicket is," Yash Dhull said.

Ravi Kumar, who was Player of the Match, said that his plan was to bowl tight lines and create pressure. He added that it’s been a good experience for him and hopefully they can win the title.

“The plan was simple - to bowl tight lines and create pressure. Preparation was nice during the last few days. We spent a lot of time together and prepared well. It's been a good experience so far and we hope we can go all the way," Ravi Kumar said
