India’s five Under-19 cricketers, including skipper Yash Dhull, have recovered from COVID-19 and are available for Saturday’s (January 29) Under-19 World Cup quarterfinal clash against Bangladesh in Antigua.
However, the team is now concerned about a fresh case of Coronavirus. Nishant Sindhu, who led the side in the absence of Dhull, returned positive following the final league game against Uganda and won't be available for the knock-out fixture. Left-arm spinner Aneeshwar Gautam will be coming in to replace Sindhu in the squad.
The Indian team had suffered a setback before their second league match against Ireland. Apart from Yash Dhull, Shaik Rasheed, Sidharth Yadav, Aaradhya Yadav and Manav Parakh had contracted COVID-19 and were put in isolation.
"All are fit now, except for Sindhu," PTI quoted an ICC source as saying.
According to the report, Dhull and other infected players reached Antigua on Friday morning after serving the quarantine period in Trinidad.
With the quarterfinal scheduled on Saturday evening, the aforementioned players will have limited time to prepare.
"They have been medically deemed fit to play. They have a day or so to train and be game ready," added the source.
