Australia tops the ICC Test rankings, India slips two spots down to number 3

Australia recently dominated the Ashes 2021-22 at home; defeating England by 4-0.

Australian cricket team has officially topped the ICC Test team rankings on Thursday (January 20) with 119 ratings. The Pat Cummins-led side recently defeated England by 4-0 in the five-match Ashes 2021-22 series at home.

England had managed to draw the fourth Test match at Sydney Cricket Ground to avoid a whitewash. Australia's dominating performance has taken them to the number 1 spot in the rankings.

India have slipped two spots down to the third position in the updated ICC Test team rankings. They had lost to South Africa by 2-1 in the three-match series, despite taking a 1-0 lead early in the series. 

New Zealand are at the number 2 position with 117 ratings, one rating point more than India. They had drawn the home series against Bangladesh by 1-1. The visitors had stunned the Kiwis by winning the opening Test match, which was their first-Test win ever on New Zealand's soil.

Pakistan have slipped down one spot to number 6 with 93 rating points. Sri Lanka, West Indies, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, and Ireland have meanwhile managed to retain their respective positions in the Test rankings.
