Pacer Mohammed Siraj on Tuesday (January 18) shared a heartfelt note for Virat Kohli after the latter quit Test captaincy of the Indian cricket team.
Kohli stepped down from the position after leading the side for seven years. He made the big announcement via social media, a day after India’s 2-1 Test series loss to South Africa.
Taking to Instagram, Siraj thanked Kohli for "trusting and believing" in him and also said that he "will always be my captain".

Notably, Siraj made his India debut under Virat’s captaincy in 2017 and the fast bowler also played under him in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
"To my superhero, I cannot be thankful enough for the support and the encouragement that I got from you. You have always been my great brother. Thank you for trusting me and believing in me for all these years. For seeing the great at my worst. You will be always be my captain King Kohli," wrote Siraj.
Virat Kohli had taken charge of the Indian Test team in 2014 and the national side achieved tremendous success under him. He led the country in 68 Tests, winning 40 matches and losing 17.
The highlight of Kohli’s tenure was the Test series victory in Australia in 2018-19. He also led India to two Test series wins in West Indies and Sri Lanka. Under his captaincy, Team India were leading 2-1 in England last year before the series got postponed due to COVID cases in the visiting camp.
Last year, the 33-year old had stepped down as T20I captain and was later sacked as ODI captain by the BCCI.
