"This is battle of two stalwarts," Rashid Latif suggests there's a 'tiff' between Kohli and BCCI

Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif called it a 'battle of two stalwarts' while reacting to Virat Kohli's decision to quit Test captaincy. He said no matter what BCCI president Sourav Ganguly or Kohli says, there is a tiff between them.

Kohli had stepped down as T20I captain before the 2021 T20 World Cup, and then he was removed from ODI captaincy after the tournament. He wasn't expecting to be sacked as the ODI captain.

The 33-year-old wanted to continue as ODI skipper, but BCCI had decided to make Rohit as captain of both the formats in the limited-overs. Kohli's press conference before the South Africa tour had hinted that everything is not good between him and BCCI.

Now, after Kohli resigned as Test captain, Rashid said, "The real reason why these things happen is because you have a tiff with the board. Irrespective of what Virat says that it's his decision or what Sourav Ganguly tweets, this is battle of two stalwarts," he said in a video on Caught Behind.

Rashid further added that BCCI's move to remove Kohli as ODI captain backfired as it led to his resignation as Test captain, which will affect the Indian cricket team.

"Some people are emotional. They know when and how to provoke Kohli. When he announced that he won't captain India in T20Is after the World Cup, he was removed as ODI captain as well. You haven't only unsettled Kohli; you've unsettled Indian cricket," he explained.
