Yuvraj Singh backed Rishabh Pant to the be next Indian team Test captain, saying the wicketkeeper batter reads the game thanks to his job behind the stumps. 

Virat Kohli on Saturday (15th January), stunned the cricketing fraternity after he announced his decision to quit Test captaincy in a social media post after leading India for 7 years at the helm. 

Following his decision to step down as the Indian Test skipper, there have been many speculations regarding who’ll carry Virat Kohli’s legacy as a skipper in the longest format of the game. 

Some reports have suggested that one between Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will be named as the Test skipper. Although there’s no official confirmation, many fans and pundits have named their choices for the leadership role in the Indian team.

Recently, batting great, Sunil Gavaskar suggested Rishabh Pant’s name for the Indian Test captaincy role, saying that wicketkeeper batter can be the ideal candidate to lead the Team in the longest format of the game and will make team very exciting to watch. 

Reacting to Gavaskar’s opinion, Yuvraj Singh also backed Rishabh Pant to be the next Indian Test captaincy, saying that the wicketkeeper batter reads the game well behind the stumps. 

“Absolutely! Reads the game well behind the stumps,” Yuvraj Singh wrote on Twitter.

Notably, Rishabh Pant impressed many with his captaincy in the IPL 2021 and led Delhi Capitals to the playoffs. The wicketkeeper batter will captain them in the upcoming IPL 2022 as well.
