India are due to host West Indies for six white-ball games next month.

India will take on West Indies in three ODIs and T20Is each | GettyWith the rising COVID-19 cases across the country, BCCI might reduce the number of venues for the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies, PTI reported on Saturday (January 8).

India are due to host West Indies for six white-ball games — three ODIs and T20Is each — at six different venues from February 6 to February 20.

“Nothing has been decided as of now. This is a fluid situation and we are keeping an eye on the situation, and we will take a call at appropriate time,” a senior BCCI official told PTI.

While the series will get underway with the ODIs in Ahmedabad (February 6), Jaipur (February 9) and Kolkata (February 12), the T20I series is slated to be played in Cuttack (February 15) Visakhapatnam (February 18) and Thiruvananthapuram (February 20).

According to the report, the Indian board may look to stage the six games at three centres to avoid too much travelling as it might make the players vulnerable to infections.

The West Indies team is due to arrive in Ahmedabad on February 1 and will undergo a three-day quarantine.

There will be practice sessions on February 4 and 5 before the action begins with the first ODI on February 6.

The BCCI was recently forced to postpone major domestic tournaments, including Ranji Trophy and the Col CK Naidu Trophy, because of the rising COVID-19 cases across the country.
