Bangladesh caused one of the biggest upsets of the year as they crushed the hosts New Zealand by 8 wickets in the first Test of the ongoing two-match Test series earlier this week in Tauranga.

New Zealand suffered a shock defeat of 8 wickets in the first Test as Bangladesh produced a stunning all-round performance to record their historic win in Tauranga, with the hosts still awaiting their first points of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC).

However, ahead of the second and final Test, starting on January 9 in Christchurch, New Zealand batter Devon Conway has stressed the importance of correcting the mistakes they made in the first Test and said that the hosts need to keep the game simple to level the Test series.

Conway said in a statement: “Obviously, we are going to go back to the drawing board and look at where we can improve from the previous Test and try to rectify that as quick as possible and implement it in the next, which is a crucial one for us as a group.”

The left-hander, who scored a century in the first Test against Bangladesh, is looking forward to the second Test and said the Kiwis need to execute their skills to level the two-match Test series.

He signed off by saying, “For us it is about doing the basics really well again and not try to over-complicate things. It is pretty much a must-win game for us. We know the surface really good here at Hagley, so we just got to go and execute our skills best as possible and get the right result this time.”

Noteworthy, the two-match Test series between New Zealand and Bangladesh is exclusively streaming live on Amazon Prime Video.
