England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler expressed his disappointment after South African's Quinton de Kock announced sudden retirement from Test cricket, saying that the world of cricket will miss him.
Quinton de Kock shocked the entire cricket fraternity after he announced a retirement from Test cricket on Thursday (30th December). The wicketkeeper said that he wanted to spend more time with his growing family as he and his wife Sasha are expecting their first child in the coming days.

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, English wicketkeeper batter Jos Buttler said that being a huge fan of Quinton de Kock, he’s disappointed with his Test retirement and the world of cricket will miss him in the longest format of the game.
"That's Quinton's own personal situation, but as a fan of cricket and a huge fan of his, I'm disappointed that he's at that stage. I love watching him bat, keep wickets and play Test cricket. The world of cricket will miss him in that format. But I guess commend him for making a decision that's right for him," Jos Buttler said.
While talking about the catches he dropped during the third Test of ongoing Ashes 2021-22, Jos Buttler admitted that it was one of the worst feelings for him and he let his teammates down.
"It's a very lonely place dropping a catch. It's one of the worst feelings in cricket, letting down your mates. It doesn't just hurt you, it hurts the whole team. You've certainly got to be able to be very strong with your character to try to come through that. Especially when you're wicketkeeping, there's nowhere to hide," he said.
Jos Buttler further said that it’s his ambition to play Test cricket and he’ll continue to do that. He lauded his family for being supportive throughout his career and for making sacrifices for him.

"It's certainly my ambition. I don't think I'd have put as much into it as I have done if it wasn't. I have fantastic family support - they're very supportive of me and my career and make a lot of sacrifices for that.
“That's one thing that gives you a lot of motivation and drives to try to make it all worth it. It's certainly maintained my drive and ambition to try and play," he concluded.
England is having a horrendous campaign in ongoing Ashes 2021-22 as they have been at the receiving end of big defeats in the first three matches of the five-Test series.
The fourth Test of Ashes 2021-22 will take place on 5th January at SCG. While the fifth and final Test match, a day-night affair, will take place on 14th January at Hobart.
