Sourav Ganguly, current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, has been discharged from the Woodlands Multispeciality Hospital in Kolkata on Friday, December 31, after he tested negative for the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

He spent four nights at the Woodlands hospital receiving treatment for COVID. It is being said that Ganguly’s all parameters are normal, and he has not been infected with the Omicron variant.

The 49-year-old was admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure after his RT-PCR test returned positive for COVID-19. He was suffering from mild symptoms and being kept under close watch at the hospital in Kolkata.

However, the BCCI President, who received "Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail" therapy earlier this week, is now doing well and was discharged from the hospital on Friday afternoon, but he will have to be in isolation for 14 days at home under doctors' supervision.

A hospital official told PTI: “We have discharged Ganguly this afternoon. He will have to be in home isolation for the next fortnight under doctors' observation. After that, the next course of treatment will be decided.”

Noteworthy, Ganguly was admitted to the hospital twice earlier this year and underwent two emergency surgeries after having some cardiac issues.
