Australia Test captain Pat Cummins has denied speculating on the future of their head coach, Justin Langer, as they now just want to enjoy the convincing Ashes victory over England in Melbourne.

Langer’s contract as Australia's head coach is all set to end in June 2022. However, Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley also refused to comment on Langer's future or contract extension.

On Tuesday, December 28, Australia defeated England by an innings and 14 runs in the third Test in MCG to take a 3-0 lead in the ongoing Ashes series at home. Australia also retained the Ashes urn after defeating England in the Boxing Day Test on Tuesday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Cummins said after the match: “I think we'll savour this victory today and continue the Ashes. I don't think today is the day to speculate on that. We'll all sit down together after this series or whenever his tenure is up. His contract is up for renewal in a few months and we'll deal with that then.”

Meanwhile, Langer was also asked about his contract, but an ecstatic head coach avoided commenting on the matter. Langer told Fox Sports: “We'll worry about that later.”

Recently, Langer expressed his desire to continue coaching the Australian team in all three formats of the game, but CA CEO Hockley hasn’t yet reacted to the remark.

Notably, Langer's working style as head coach didn't go down well with some senior players, with the then Test captain Tim Paine, limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch, and Cummins having had discussions with CA top bosses on the issue earlier this year.
