Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja was not happy with the headlines focusing on the recent allegations made against veteran spinner Yasir Shah, who has been named in an FIR for allegedly aiding his friend in the rape and harassment of a 14-year-old girl, as per Geo TV reports.

The FIR was filed at the Shalimar Police Station in Islamabad and in it, the girl said that Yasir Shah’s friend Farhan, had allegedly raped her at gunpoint, filmed her ordeal, and harassed her.

The FIR also stated that when the girl's parents approached Yasir for help, he made fun of them and threatened to use his influence to drag them into legal battles. The 14-year-old said that when she approached the police, Yasir proposed to buy her a flat and bear her expenses for the next 18 years.

Yasir and his friend both are not in contact with anyone and are still being searched by the police in the case.

Raja said that such things shouldn’t be happening given that players are regularly counseled on their "ambassadorial" roles.

"It is a no-brainer, Yasir is a circuit player and while we train and educate these players they are in ambassadorial positions and should know with whom and where to socialize," Ramiz said at a press conference here on Wednesday.

Ramiz Raja further said that while the real truth is not known to anyone, but such negative focus on players is not doing Pakistan Cricket and its image any good.

"I don't know what is the truth in this case but it is a fact that such headlines are not good for Pakistan cricket and especially at a time when there is a feel good factor going through Pakistan Cricket now," the PCB Chairman said.

Raja also said that Yasir and all other contracted players are regularly counseled and reminded of their responsibilities as ambassadors and how to behave in public.
