Former England skipper Michael Vaughan urged the Joe Root-led side to get nasty if they have to fancy their chances of winning the ongoing Ashes 2021-22 in Australia.
Nothing is going right for England as the Joe Root-led side suffered two heavy one-sided defeats. They first suffered a 9-wicket thumping in Gabba and then were decimated in a 275-run thrashing in the day-night Test in Adelaide.
With being 0-2 down in the series, it’s now a must-win situation for England if they have to revive their horrendous campaign in Australia so far.

Speaking to Fox Cricket, Michael Vaughan said that he noticed English players talking to Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon on the morning of the second Test. He remarked that during his playing days he didn’t dare to go and speak to Steve Waugh, Glenn McGrath or Shane Warne on the morning of the Test match.
"I see on the morning of the game they are all talking to Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon. I never had a conversation with Steve Waugh back in the day. I wouldn't have dared go and speak to Glenn McGrath on the morning of the game or Shane Warne. You just didn't," Michael Vaughan said.
Vaughan pointed out that it's all a bit too friendly in the Ashes 2021-22 and England need to be nasty because they are at the stage where they have to change something.
He added that the Joe Root-led side should come out and show a bit of mongrel in the England side.
"It's all a bit friendly. I'd get nasty with them They somehow need to find that on day one. Get into the scrap. Chirp, do whatever, just get into the scrap. They are at that stage now where they have to change something.
“It might be that they all get nasty, get nasty with each other. They all fall out. Who cares, but then come out and show a bit of spirit I actually want to see a bit of mongrel in the England side," he said.
Michael Vaughan lashed out at English skipper Joe Root for his comments on pacers' lengths after the second Test, saying that it’s his job as a captain that if two pacers aren’t bowling the right lengths he should whip them out of the attack.
He added that Root should’ve made such comments two-three years ago because England has consistently bowled the wrong lengths for while.

“The skipper spoke last night about the lengths and not getting it right again, well unfortunately that's on his watch. That's your job as a captain. When you've got five seamers, if two aren't bowling the right length you just whip them out of the attack straight away and say 'I'm sorry, you're not doing what I've asked'.
"It was a little bit of a press conference for me that needed to have happened probably two or three years ago because England have consistently bowled the wrong lengths for quite a while now.” he said.
The next match of the five-match Test series is slated to begin on 26th December at MCG. With only a few days remaining for the start of the Test, it remains to be seen if the Joe Root-led side can stage a comeback or not.
