Australia has added fast bowler Scott Boland to the 16-member squad for the upcoming third Test match of the ongoing Ashes 2021-22 against England, to be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) from December 26.
On Monday, December 20, Cricket Australia (CA) announced an unchanged squad for the Boxing Day Ashes Test.
However, later, Australia made a change in the squad, by handing Scott Boland his maiden Test call-up and he'll possibly make his Test debut at his home ground, the MCG in the third Test.
Cricket Australia (CA) stated in a release on Tuesday (December 21): “Boland has been training with the team in Adelaide and joins the squad while the medical team assesses the fast bowling group following the second Test victory.”
Notably, Boland, the Marsh Sheffield Shield player of the year in 2018-19, was awarded a maiden Test call-up after his stellar performance for Victoria this summer, where the 32-year-old has taken 15 wickets in two matches for Victoria at a phenomenal average of just 10. He averages 26.03 in first-class cricket.
Boland also played the tour match against the England Lions in Brisbane and scalped two wickets before mixing with the national team in Adelaide. The pacer has so far played 14 ODIs and 3 T20Is for Australia and managed 19 international wickets.
