India's former limited-overs captain Virat Kohli on Wednesday (December 15) revealed that there was no communication from the board before removing him from the ODI captaincy. BCCI selectors had recently announced Rohit Sharma for the role ahead of the upcoming South Africa tour.

Kohli's revelation has upset the Indian cricket fans and they have questioned BCCI's treatment. The Twitterati felt the BCCI administrators should have had a proper interaction with Kohli before taking a call.

Recently, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that he had personally requested Kohli not to give up the T20I captaincy role. Kohli stepped down as India skipper from the shortest format in September and T20 World Cup 2021 was his last appearance as full-time T20I captain of the team.

But the 33-year-old said nobody told him not to give up the T20I captaincy, contradicting Ganguly's claim. "I was never told that I should not leave T20I cricket captaincy," he said.

The fans on social media were furious after Kohli's press conference and his disclosure. Some of the Twitterati tweeted that they felt Ganguly would deal with such matters in a better way; having himself mistreated as captain in the past. But the latest developments have left the fans disappointed.
