David Warner, Tim Southee and Abid Ali nominated for ICC Men's Player of the Month award

Nahida Akter, Anam Amin and Hayley Matthews are nominated for ICC women's Player of the Month award.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced nominees for the Player of the Month for November. 

Fierce Australian opener David Warner, premier New Zealand pacer Tim Southee and Pakistan’s Abid Ali are the three players nominated for the ICC men’s Player of the Month award for November. The nominees are shortlisted based on performance across the formats in the last month. 

David Warner, was awarded Player of the Tournament in ICC T20 World Cup 2021, after scoring 209 runs in four T20Is this month at an average of 69.66 and a strike rate of 151.44. He played a crucial knock of 49 runs against Pakistan in the semi-final of the ICC event and followed it with a 53-run knock in the summit clash.

Tim Southee took seven wickets in the matches of the T20 World Cup 2021 in November and followed it with 4 wickets in the T20I series against India. The right-arm pacer then took 8 wickets in the first Test against the same opposition, which included a five-wicket haul as well. 

Pakistan’s Abid Ali was shortlisted on account of his performance in the recently concluded first Test against Bangladesh in Chittagong. The opening batter scored 133 and 91 in the two innings respectively and was also awarded Player of the Match. 

For the ICC women’s Player of the Month award, Bangladesh’s Nahida Akter, Pakistan’s Anam Amin and West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews have been nominated. 

Nahida Akter scalped 13 wickets in four ODIs played during November at an economy rate of 2.22. Pakistan’s Anam Amin also took 13 wickets in ODIs this month and also bagged four wickets in two matches during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2021.

While West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews was shortlisted for her all-round performance as she scored 141 runs and took nine wickets at an average of 13 in four games she played. 

The results will be announced next week and independent ICC Voting Academy and fans across the globe can cast their vote till Sunday (12th December)
