Veteran India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has revealed his all-time Test XI comprising of some of the best cricketers of his era. Harbhajan, himself is considered to be one of the best spinners cricket has ever seen with 417 Test wickets and 269 ODI wickets to his name in 103 Tests and 236 ODIs respectively.
Harbhajan Singh picked England’s all-time highest Test run-getter Sir Alastair Cook and India’s dashing batter Virender Sehwag as the openers of his all-time Test XI. Sehwag is one of the only four batters in Test cricket to score more than one triple-century.
Singh lauded Sehwag for playing the fearless brand of cricket and called him the modern-day Viv Richards.
The owner of the highest individual Test score, Brian Lara was picked to bat at no.3, while the highest Test run-getter, most centuries in Tests and only player to play 200 Test matches, Sachin Tendulkar was picked to bat at a position he made his own, no.4.
Harbhajan Singh named Steve Waugh as the captain of his all-time Test XI, while perhaps the greatest modern era all-rounder Jacques Kallis was slotted at no.6. Sri Lanka’s majestic left-handed batter Kumar Sangakkara was picked as the wicketkeeper.
The Punjab-born Indian cricketer went for a sole specialist spinner in his XI, picking legendary Shane Warne. Muttiah Muralitharan was named the 12th man by Harbhajan Singh.
As for the fast bowlers, Harbhajan covered all aspects as he picked left-armer Wasim Akram, the sultan of swing. England’s swing king James Anderson also found a spot in this all-time Test XI and the final spot went to ace Australian pacer, Glenn McGrath.
