Pat Cummins became the 47th Test captain of Australia | GettyAustralia's newly-appointed Test captain Pat Cummins has revealed that the Cricket Australia appointed panel asked him to confess if he had any secrets and share them beforehand as he was to be handed the leadership role by the selection panel.

Cummins was made Australia's 47th Test captain ahead of the Ashes series after Tim Paine stepped down last week and took an indefinite break from cricket following the 'sexting scandal'. Steve Smith also returned to a leadership role as he was named the vice-captain of the team.

"Yeah, there were a couple of questions. I won't go into detail. It was a really good open discussion. We talked about a lot of different things. So we both left it feeling really comfortable,” Cummins told ABC sport while replying in affirmative that the CA panel asked him to confess any secrets.

The five-person panel comprised selectors George Bailey and Tony Dodemaide, former Australia batter and current CA board member Mel Jones, CEO Nick Hockley and chair Richard Freudenstein.

The Ashes 2021-22 will begin from December 8th with the first Test to be played in Brisbane. The members of Australia's Ashes squad, who had participated at the T20 World Cup in UAE, are currently training at their quarantine center in Gold Coast.
