Australia team head coach Justin Langer is not reportedly part of the panel picked by Cricket Australia (CA) to choose the next Test captain of the team.
Cricket Australia (CA) had picked a five-person panel, headed by CA chairman Richard Freudenstein and CEO Nick Hockley, to pick the new Test captain of the side.
The other members of the committee are the national selectors George Bailey and Tony Dodemaide, and CA director Mel Jones.
With the CA to make the final call, the five committee members will have a voice on the selection matter, but Langer isn’t involved in the selection process.
It is being said that Langer was left out of the captaincy selection panel to make sure the head coach could more focus on Australia's Ashes defense at home.

The national selection panel has submitted a list of captaincy candidates to be considered, and now the panel will look at all the captaincy nominees before they go to the board, with the entire process of picking the next Test captain may taking a week.
Notably, Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Travis Head are among the contenders for the role of Australia's new Test captain after Tim Paine stepped down ahead of the Ashes 2021–22 following a sexting scandal last week.
All the captaincy nominees will be interviewed by the joint committee. CA will also need to nominate a new vice-captain if Cummins is selected as the new Test captain of Australia.
