Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali was reprimanded on Saturday (November 20) for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. He had given an inappropriate send-off to Bangladesh batter Nurul Hasan after dismissing him caught behind in the first T20I.
As per ICC, Hasan breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel in the 17th over of Bangladesh’s innings in Dhaka.
The law is related to "using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an international match."
ICC, in an official release, stated that Ali has been charged with one demerit point. "In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to the disciplinary record of Hasan, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period."
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh team have also been fined 20 per cent of their match fees due to slow over-rate in the match. They were one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.
In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.
Both, Pakistan pacer Ali and Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah have admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by Neeyamur Rashid of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees.
On-field umpires Sharfudoulla Ibne Shahid and Masudur Rahman, third umpire Gazi Sohel and fourth official Tanvir Ahmed levelled the charges.
The first T20I was won by Pakistan who chased down 128 with four wickets in hand, despite being reduced to 24/4. Khushdil Shah's knock of 34 helped Pakistan recover in the run-chase.
It was Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan's partnership of unbeaten 36 runs off 15 deliveries for the 7th wicket which took them over the line.
Ali was picked as the Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance. He bagged three wickets for just 22 runs in his four overs.
