SL v WI 2021: Sri Lanka names 22-member squad for West Indies Tests; Asalanka receives maiden call-up

Two-Test series between Sri Lanka and West Indies will start from 21st November.

After a decent campaign in ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Sri Lanka will host West Indies for 2 Test-series and on Friday (19th November), announced a 22-member squad for the Tests.

The first Test match between Sri Lanka and West Indies will kick start from 21st November at Galle, while the second match of the series will begin from 29th November at the same venue. 

Charith Asalanka, who was Sri Lanka’s hero in the T20 World Cup 2021, has received a maiden call-up for the two Tests against West Indies.

While the likes of Lahiru Thirimanne, Wanindu Hasaranga, Niroshan Dickwella, who have been banned for breaching bio-bubble earlier this year in England, and Dasun Shanaka have not been named in the squad. 

The spin duo of Lakshan Sandakan and Lasith Embuldeniya is back in the national side along with Minod Bhanuka, Kamil Mishara, Chamika Karunaratne, Suminda Lakshan and Chamika Gunasekara

Dimuth Karunaratne will captain the 22-member squad while the likes of Oshada Fernando, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva have retained their place in the squad.
