West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder has picked his all-time best Test XI, including plenty of former West Indian greats, and said that Test cricket is his most favorite format of the game.

He picked his all-time Test XI during an exclusive interview with News Nine, leaving out some of the most famous names in the game, including Indian legends Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, Australia’s Glenn McGrath and Sri Lankan greats Kumar Sangakkara and Muttiah Muralitharan.

However, the world number one Test all-rounder had a few special mentions in the form of McGrath, Sangakkara, Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn, and Muralitharan, but Tendulkar and Dravid didn’t find a place in either of his all-time best Test XI or special mentions players’ lists.

Coming to his all-time best Test XI, Holder named Virender Sehwag and Chris Gayle as his explosive opening pair. Holder admitted that he was biased in his selection of the Universe Boss in his team.

His middle-order is studded with Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara, Vivian Richards, and Sir Garfield Sobers.  The all-rounder went with Adam Gilchrist for No. 7 and Shane Warne at No.8 and the Aussie is the solitary spinner his playing XI.

Holder’s pace bowling attack consisted of Curtly Ambrose, Malcolm Marshall, and Wasim Akram to complete the list.

Holder told News 9: “I am sorry for being a bit biased but Christopher Henry Gayle at one with Virender Sehwag as his partner. It would be a great spectacle. Three, I would have Ricky Ponting. Four, I would have Brian Lara. Five, I would have Vivian Richards. Six, Sir Garfield Sobers.”

He signed off by saying, “Seven, Adam Gilchrist. Eight, Shane Warne. Nine, Curtly Ambrose - my favorite of all time. Malcolm Marshall at 10 and Wasim Akram at 11.”
