Vikram Rathour, India's batting coach, on Tuesday (November 2), revealed that he has re-applied for the position of Team India's batting coach, and he is looking forward to working hard with the players, as there is “a lot of work to be done” if he gets another opportunity.
He confirmed his application for the post ahead of India’s next fixture against Afghanistan on Wednesday, November 3, in Abu Dhabi in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
Rathour during a virtual pre-match press conference: “Going forward, I have already applied for the batting coach position and if I get it, there is going to be a lot of work to be done. The experience has been great, it has been a great learning experience. It is great to work with a team of such highly skillful and motivated players.”
Last month, Indian legend Rahul Dravid had applied for the position of Indian cricket team’s head coach while reports suggested that VVS Laxman is in the race to be the next National Cricket Academy (NCA) head to take over from Dravid.
The source had revealed, “Yes, Dravid has applied for the position of Team India head coach and Laxman is definitely in the race to take over as NCA head. Talks are on and we have to see how it goes.”
Noteworthy, the BCCI had invited applications for the positions of head coach, batting coach, bowling coach, and fielding coach, as well as for the post of Head Sports Science/Medicine with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for the Indian team with the deadline set at November 3 and 5 respectively.
