‘Extremely grateful and honored,’ says Ishant Sharma after receiving Arjuna Award

The Delhiite became only the second Indian pacer to play 100 Tests recently and also reached the 300 wickets mark in the format as well. Ishant Sharma had made his Test debut for India in 2007 against Bangladesh and was part of the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy-winning Indian team.

When the Arjuna Awards were announced for the year 2020, Ishant Sharma and Deepti Sharma were the two cricketers shortlisted for the second-highest sporting honor in the country. Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, was chosen for the prestigious Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna award.

Ishant Sharma has 311 wickets in 104 Tests, 115 wickets in 80 ODIs, and 8 wickets in 14 T20I matches for the Indian team.

He shared a photo with his wife Pratima Singh after receiving the Arjuna Award on Twitter and said, “Extremely grateful and honoured to receive the #ArjunaAward 2020!
