Veteran Australian opener David Warner, on Thursday (October 28) predicted that the hosts would be winning the upcoming Ashes 2021-22 by 4-0 against England this winter.

However, the left-hander didn’t deny a complete whitewash of the England side in the Ashes series, but said the weather around during the high profile Test series will not help Australia to have a whitewash victory at home, saying the hosts should at least win the series by 4-0.

Warner told the SEN radio station from Dubai: “Look, I'm almost a trademark for headlines, 'ren'" I? It's going to be a challenge. Glenn (McGrath) loved a five-'il. I'll say four-nil. There has to be some give with the weather around, s"rely on.”

Meanwhile, Warner is possibly experiencing one of his worst years as a cricketer at the moment, having lost the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captaincy, as well as dropping from the side during the recent IPL 2021, and is now struggling to score for Australia in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

He could manage a paltry 14 runs in Australia’s 5-wicket win over South Africa in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 after scoring 1 and 0 in the two warm-up games in the UAE.

However, Warner was not worried about his form, saying he is at his best when fighting with his back to the wall as he is gearing up to open the innings for Australia in their next T20 World Cup 2021 match against Sri Lanka on Thursday, October 28.

He signed off by saying, “For my sake, 'I think I'm the best fighting when I'm up against the wall. From my perspective, I always respect where I am with my game. For the last 18 months, 'here hasn't been much continuity, due to the pandemic. Just trying to get back-to-back games, when we're so used to playing series after series.”
