The ICC released the latest update to their T20I batting rankings on October 27, 2021, Wednesday, which saw Indian batters Virat Kohli and KL Rahul losing much ground.
India captain Virat Kohli dropped one place to fifth despite his half-century against Pakistan for a lost cause in the ongoing T20 World Cup while team-mate KL Rahul slipped two slots to eighth as India started their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign with a 10-wicket loss to Pakistan.
Kohli (725 rating points) had hit 57 off 49 balls, while Rahul (684) scored 3 runs in India’s total of 151 for 7 which Pakistan chased down with 13 balls to spare to register a historic maiden victory over the Men in Blue in World Cups.
Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan, who made 79* vs India and 33 vs New Zealand, moved to the 4th spot. South African opener Aiden Markram who struck 40 and 51 not out against Australia and the West Indies respectively, attained career-best ranking by reaching the third spot, only behind Dawid Malan (831) of England and Pakistan captain Babar Azam (820).
Also gaining career-best T20I batting ranking was Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who moved to the 12th spot after his 46 against Scotland. Bangladesh opener Mohammad Naim has moved up 11 places to a career-best 13th position after his 52-ball 62 against Sri Lanka.
Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, who had four wickets in two matches in the tournament, is up 11 places to 12th position, just two off his career-best ranking. Haris Rauf who picked 4/22 against India, moved to his career-best 17th position.
Bangladesh star Shakib Al Hasan has regained the top spot among all-rounders after a fine start to the T20 World Cup.
