Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir highlighted the difference between the 50-over ICC World Cup and ICC T20 World Cup.
Indian Cricket Team has been fortunate enough to win 50-over World Cup two times in 1983 and 2011, while they were the inaugural T20 World champions in 2007.
In both, 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 World Cup Gautam Gambhir played a vital role and was one of the main reasons behind India's triumph.
Writing in his column for Times of India, Gautam Gambhir feels that winning the 50-over World Cup is more rewarding than the T20 World Cup as it is staged after every four years whereas the latter comes around in no time.
He added that with T20 World Cup taking place in back-to-back years, fans cannot recall the outcome with the same accuracy as that of the 50-over World Cup.

"Born in 1981 and seeing cricket through the 90s and later, I find the win in the 50-over World Cup more rewarding as compared to T20s. There is a novelty attached to the 50-over format. It is staged every four years whereas the T20 World Cup comes around in almost no time.
“We have one now and another next year in Australia. Yes, the schedules have gone haywire due to Covid, but I am not sure if the fans can really recall the outcome of the previous T20 World Cup with the same accuracy as its 50-over counterpart,” Gautam Gambhir wrote.
Gautam Gambhir stated that T20 World Cup should take place after every three years as a team that wins would want to hold on to that position for some time.
"If anything, the authorities can deliberate on the idea of pushing the T20 World Cup every three years. If I become a champion today I would want to hold on to that position for at least some time,” he said.
Notably, Gautam Gambhir scored a vital 75 runs in the T20 World Cup 2007 against Pakistan while in World Cup 2011, the southpaw scored 97 runs in the final vs Sri Lanka and helped his team to win the title after 28 years.
