Opener Will Pucovski’s Australia future has been once again clouded ahead of the Ashes 2021-22 after he once again suffered a concussion during a training session last week.

Pucovski got hit on his head during a net session and was forced to consult a doctor considering his concussion history. The 23-year-old has suffered nine concussions earlier in his career and the latest blow is just raising concerns over the cricketer’s health and puts his Ashes campaign at risk.

Cricket Victoria on Thursday (October 14) confirmed that Pucovski was struck on the helmet whilst receiving throw-downs during a net training session on October 5 at Junction Oval and it's understood that the batter is still experiencing symptoms, which developed a day after the incident.

The right-hander was making his return to full training after having suffered a shoulder injury during the home series against India. His last concussion came when he got struck in the head by India’s speedster Kartik Tyagi before the start of the 2020-21 Test series.

Cricket Victoria said in a statement on Thursday: “Cricket Victoria confirms Will Pucovski received a knock to the head in training with Victoria last Tuesday.”

The statement added, “Will is currently managing his recovery in consultation with CV’s medical staff. He looks forward to returning to training as soon as he is able to do so.”

The cricket had earlier stated that his aim to play in a maiden Ashes series this summer was keeping him motivated through his long rehabilitation from shoulder surgery.
