Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Asif doesn't think Virat Kohli is anywhere close to the India great Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli is among the best batters of the current era but Asif said Pakistan's Babar Azam is an upper-hand player like Tendulkar.

Asif also claimed that Kohli won't be able to make a comeback after facing a decline. Notably, the Indian skipper hasn't scored an international hundred since November 2019.

"Kohli is a bottom-hand player. He is doing well because of his fitness and it is supporting him. The moment he will face a decline, I don't think Kohli can make a comeback. In fact, Babar is an upper-hand player like Sachin. His bat movement is fluent like Sachin. People say Kohli is better than Tendulkar. I say no. Virat does not even come close to Sachin. This is my opinion," Asif said on CoverDriveCricket's YouTube channel.

The 38-year-old had the privilege to bowl to Tendulkar in a face-off during India's tour of Pakistan in 2006. Asif said India's batting great was very fluent with his shots. 

"The way Sachin played was all upper hand and a very few people know about this technique. Be it coaches or anyone player. Sachin was so fluent with his cover drives, on drives pulls, and cuts. No doubt Kohli has strokes as well, but his is all bottom hand," he said.

Tendulkar played his last international match against West Indies in 2013, which was also his 200th Test match. He retired from cricket with 51 Test and 49 ODI cenutries to his name.
