BCCI didn't consult Kohli on Dhoni as mentor, Ashwin’s India selection for T20 World Cup 2021- Report

IANS reports suggested that BCCI was unhappy with Kohli's attitude and captaincy post WTC debacle.

IANS reports suggested that BCCI was unhappy with Kohli's captaincy post WTC debacle | AFPIt seems that the Virat Kohli-BCCI saga will not calm down any time soon, especially after a recent report from IANS suggested that the Indian captain wasn’t consulted about the appointment of MS Dhoni as the mentor or R Ashwin’s selection in the Indian team for the T20 world cup 2021 to be played in UAE.

The report has suggested that Virat Kohli, who announced that he will be stepping down as captain of the Indian team post the T20 World Cup 2021, wasn’t consulted about MS Dhoni’s appointment as the mentor of the national team for the ICC event.

Sources in the report further revealed that R Ashwin’s surprise selection in the Indian T20I team for the first time since 2017, came as a surprise for Kohli as well, as he wanted Yuzvendra Chahal in the Indian team in Ashwin’s place.

However, this distrust between the BCCI and Virat Kohli had deepened since the tour of England as IANS reported that BCCI wasn’t happy with the skipper. According to sources, such talk had been going on for the last six months and gathered pace after the World Test Championship debacle.

Ashwin has been reportedly named as the player who complained to BCCI about Kohli | AFPIf sources are to be believed, the revolt against Kohli started within the team a few months ago. It has come to light that several senior players in the dressing room were miffed at the attitude of the ace cricketer.

A senior player had complained to the BCCI secretary against Kohli for making him feel ‘insecure’. And the report suggests that the senior player was none other than R Ashwin, indicated by how Kohli ignored the off-spinner during the England Test series, benching him for all four Tests, despite experts suggesting that Ashwin would be better suited to England conditions.

Even chief coach Ravi Shastri had talked about playing Ashwin before the fourth Test. Kohli apparently ignored this advice.
