New Zealand is scheduled to tour Pakistan for the first time since 2003-04. The Kiwis will be touring for a three-match ODI and a five-match T20I series.

The Decision Review System (DRS) which is one of the common aspects in any international matches or franchise-based tournaments will not be in use during New Zealand’s upcoming white-ball tour from September 19 due to the non-availability of an approved provider for the technology.

According to a source, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the producers/broadcasters of the series could not find an approved provider of the technology required to run the system during the tour.

The member boards can only have DRS technology providers who are approved by the International Cricket Council, a source clarified. He said the DRS technology will be available for the two T20Is against England in October in Lahore.

The source said there was so much international cricket being played around the world at this time that equipment technology provision needs have to be arranged well in advance.

Another source said the problem of not being able to find a DRS technology provider and operator had arisen as the PCB sold the media rights of the New Zealand series very late.

As far as New Zealand’s limited-overs tour is concerned, the three ODIs will be played on September 17, 19 and 21 in Rawalpindi followed by a five-match T20I series which will be played in Lahore on September 25, 25, 29, October 1 and 3.
