Former India captain and present Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has on Thursday (September 9) announced that a biopic on his life will be made.
Luv Films, an Indian film production company, will produce the biopic on one of the most respected and loved personalities in world cricket, Ganguly, who is fondly known as Dada.
Announcing the film on Ganguly, Luv Films said in a statement: “We are thrilled to announce that Luv Films will produce Dada Sourav Ganguly's biopic. We are honored to be entrusted with this responsibility and look forward to a great innings.”
Meanwhile, Ganguly, one of the most successful skippers in the history of Indian cricket, also took to Twitter on Thursday to confirm his biopic while expressing his pleasure over the development.
He wrote Twitter: “Cricket has been my life, it gave confidence and ability to walk forward with my head held high, a journey to be cherished. Thrilled that Luv Films will produce a biopic on my journey and bring it to life for the big screen.”
Ganguly backed many cricketers who later went on to become match-winners for India and he believed that his legacy as a captain was that he was able to build a proper Indian cricket team.
He represented India in 113 Test matches and 311 ODIs and scored 7212 and 11363 runs with 16 and 22 hundreds respectively between 1992 and 2008.
