Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo has revealed that the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim does not want to keep wickets anymore in the T20Is.

Rahim, who has been playing international cricket since 2005, is not keeping the wickets in the ongoing five-match T20I series against New Zealand.

Domingo made the revelation after Bangladesh's 76-run defeat in the third T20I against New Zealand on Sunday (September 5) in Dhaka.

Earlier before the New Zealand series at home, Bangladesh team management had divided the wicket-keeping duties between Nurul Hasan and Rahim as the youngster would keep in the first two T20Is while the veteran wicketkeeper would do the duties in the third and fourth T20Is against the Black Caps.

However, in the third T20I on Sunday, Mushfiqur didn’t keep wickets with Hasan took the gloves to shock everyone and now Domingo revealed that the veteran cricketer doesn’t want to don the gloves in T20Is anymore and they have to move on from him.

According to ESPNCricinfo, Domingo said after the 3rd T20I: “There has been a change in plans. Initially, after speaking to Mushy, he was going to keep after the second game. But he told me he probably doesn't want to keep wicket in T20s anymore, so we have to move on.”

He added, “I don't think Mushfiqur's desire to keep in this format is great anymore. We have to focus on Nurul Hasan Sohan, and let him do those duties going into the competition.”

However, Mushfiqur is yet to reveal his decision or comment on Domingo’s remark regarding his denial to don the wicketkeeping gloves in T20Is.
