Cricket South Africa (CSA) has on Monday (August 23) announced that the right-arm pacer Lutho Sipamla has been named in the Proteas squad as a replacement for Junior Dala for the six-match limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka next month.
Dala and South Africa's bowling coach Charl Langeveldt both will miss South Africa’s upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka after the two tested positive for COVID-19 a few weeks ago.
However, Langeveldt and Dala both returned negative results, but Sri Lanka allows only those who have not tested COVID-19 positive at least 21 days prior to arrival in the country, which making them unavailable for the tour.
Now, Northerns' coach Mandla Mashimbyi and Sipamla will travel with the South Africa squad to Sri Lanka in place of Langeveldt and Dala respectively.
Cricket South Africa announced on Twitter: “Lutho Sipamla has joined the squad as Junior Dala has been withdrawn due to medical reasons.”
Meanwhile, Dwaine Pretorius has been also returned to South Africa’s both T20I and ODI squads for the Sri Lanka tour after missing the West Indies and Ireland tours due to medical reasons.
Sri Lanka and South Africa will play three ODIs and as many as T20Is in Colombo from September 2 to Sept 14.

South Africa will also be traveling with a batting consultant in Justin Sammons for the Sri Lanka series, which means Neil McKenzie, whose task is to oversee batting across both men's and women's national teams, will not be a part of the upcoming series.
South Africa is scheduled to depart for Colombo on Wednesday (August 25). The Proteas will miss the services of Quinton de Kock (rested), Lungi Ngidi (personal reasons), and David Miller (hamstring injury) in the ODI series, but they all will be available for the T20I leg of the Sri Lanka tour.
