Bangladesh were at their best as they registered a stunning 4-1 win over Aussies in the recently concluded five-match home T20I series. After Australia, Bangladesh will now be hosting New Zealand for yet another home series of five T20Is.
As the hosts announced their squad for the upcoming series against the Kiwis, wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das were added to the national squad on Thursday. Mushfiqur and Liton had missed out on the Australia series earlier this month due to COVID-19 rules.
The left-hand opening batsman Tamim Iqbal who was also absent during the Australia series due to a knee injury, has been left out as he is yet to recover fully. Batsman Mohammad Mithun was dropped and Bangladesh added leg-spinner Aminul Islam Biplob to the squad.
The Blackcaps will be arriving in Dhaka on 24 August for the five-match T20I series with the matches scheduled on 1, 3, 5, 8 and 10 September and will be played behind closed doors at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
The five-T20Is at Dhaka will be held ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 in October and November to be held in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
