Adam Gilchrist, former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman, has said that if CA (Cricket Australia) wants to move on from head coach Justin Langer, then they should do it sooner rather than later.

Justin Langer, the current head coach of Australia has been facing a lot of criticism after the Australian team lost the T20I series against the West Indies and Bangladesh in the last few months.

The Australian side also lost the Border Gavaskar Trophy to Team India at home in 2020-21, which was their second consecutive Test series loss at home to India after the 2018-19 series loss.

In fact, it also has been reported that a section of Aussie players isn’t happy with Langer’s management. The former opener's contract as head coach will end in the middle of 2022. Hence, it remains to be seen whether Cricket Australia offers him an extension or Langer’s ties will be ended.

"Justin is very aware of these perceived issues with his management style, and he's going to keep trying to work with that, and I'm sure the players will try to work alongside that as well. But the bigger issue, and it will derail the summer if it doesn't get sorted out, is the fact these journalists have a direct line of contact with people within the inner sanctum there, and the people in that inner sanctum are happy to let it get out," Gilchrist told SEN Radio.

Adam Gilchrist reckoned that the national board should be quick in taking a decision on Langer’s future.

"So, Cricket Australia needs to try to address this very quickly. If everyone believes the best thing to do is move on from Justin Langer as a coach, do it sooner rather than later because it is just going to create a side issue, which is going to continue to be a circus," he added.
