Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the most popular cricketers in the world and enjoys a staggering fan base and even many times, some people have run onto the field during cricket matches to meet the legendary cricketer.
Well, a die-hard fan of Dhoni named Ajay Gill from Haryana did the unthinkable to meet his idol. According to a report in The Telegraph, the 18-year-old fan had covered 1,400km by foot from his village Jalan Kheda in Hisar district of Haryana to Ranchi, Jharkhand to meet Dhoni. He works as a barber in the village and his haircut is very popular there.
Ajay claimed to have walked for 16 days since July 29 to cover over 1,400km from his village Jalan Kheda to reach Dhoni’s residence in Ranchi on August 15. The 18-year-old hoped Dhoni would certainly spare 10 minutes for him as he came from such a far-off place on foot.

Unfortunately, it did not happen as Dhoni was miles away from his hometown in Dubai for the second phase of IPL 2021, but despite being informed that he will return from the UAE after three months.
A gutted Ajay wasn’t in the mood to go back, as he was standing outside the gate of the legendary cricketer’s farmhouse in Somalia, on the outskirts of Ranchi and wanted to stay back till he met his idol. Even, the fan had arranged a room to stay for a day with a local businessman and friends.
Ajay was quoted as saying: “Dhoni ji mil ke hi ghar loutunga (I will only return home after seeing Dhoni).”
The fan also revealed that he works as a barber in his village and his interesting haircut is very popular there. Ajay concluded, “I used to play cricket but stopped it after Dhoni retired and wanted to start it again after getting the blessings of the former Indian captain.”
However, Ajay, who had a special haircut with Dhoni’s name carved on his head and tri-color on the head, was convinced by a young businessman to return back to home and revisit when the former captain arrives home after the completion of the IPL 2021. He also booked an air ticket for the superfan.
Anurag Chawla, who helped Ajay return back to home, said: “We are impressed that he walked all the way from Haryana but convinced him to return now and come again later.”
Notably, Ajay also revealed his purpose of visit, saying he once aspired to be a cricketer but stopped playing after Dhoni’s international retirement last year, but now he wants to make a fresh start with the legendary cricketer’s blessings.
