Australian cricket team on Saturday (August 7) eventually registered a victory in the ongoing Bangladesh tour, defeating the hosts by three wickets in the fourth T20I at Dhaka.
Opting to bat first, Bangladesh managed only 104/9 in 20 overs. It was a listless performance as none of the batsmen could touch the 30-run mark. Opener Mohammad Naim was the top scorer with 28.
For Australia, leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson was the stand-out bowler, returning with the career-best figures of 3-12 in his four overs. Pacers Andrew Tye (3-18) and Josh Hazlewood (2-24) were also outstanding with the ball, claiming five wickets between them.
In reply, Australia overhauled the target with an over to spare. Dan Christian starred with the bat for the tourists, smashing 39 off just 15 deliveries, including 1 four and 5 sixes. Interestingly, all of his five sixes came in a single over of Bangladesh’s ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
It was the fourth over of Australia’s innings when Christian took Shakib to the cleaners, accumulating 30 runs from it to lead the foundation for a successful chase.
Having won the first three games, Bangladesh have already taken an unassailable lead in the five-match T20I series.
The fifth and final T20I will be played in Dhaka on Monday (August 9).
